Prague snow globes

Prague  is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. It is the historical capital of Bohemia. The city is located on the Vltava River and has a population of about 1.4 million.

In the middle of Europe, the city has been around  more than 1,000 years and has a rich architectural heritage from this.

This globe shows the The Old Town Hall built in 1338 as the administrative seat for Prague's Old Town. There are five medieval houses, one with the historical astronomical clock. The base shows the Charles Bridge the medieval stone arch bridge that crosses the Vltava river which was begun in 1357 by King Charles IV, and finished in the early 15th century. This new bridge was originally called Stone Bridge or Prague Bridge, but has been called  "Charles Bridge" since 1870.

The base hints at the cobblestone streets: towers, bridges, churches and palaces of old town Prague.

The Gothic, Metropolitan Cathedral of Saints Vitus, Wenceslaus and Adalbert is located within Prague Castle and containing the tombs of many Bohemian kings and Holy Roman Emperors. The first church on the site was started in 930 but Construction of the present-day Gothic cathedral began in November 1344.

Bohemia  is the westernmost and largest historical region of the Czech Republic. Again the base is richly ornated with buildings from around the city including the medieval astronomical clock.

A good tourist shop always looks very enticing with good use of light and glass. Though some of the more unusual globes can be found in markets and stalls.

Couldnt resist adding this grafitti van parked in Prague.
