I Love Lyon

Decided to have a weekend in Lyon in mid France, never been there before.

We came across 2 main souvenier shops both near the Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste in the city centre.

The first was Souvenirs de Lyon at 46 Rue Saint-Jeanat Jean, a busy shop, packed with all sorts of souveniers with a rather attentive staff, who ask you what you wanted when you were browsing around the rather cramped shelves. They had a stunning range of snowglobes including ones of the Basillica, cathedral, the Traboule, The golden statue of the Virgin Mary, Eucherius the Archbishop of Lyon and Saint, Guyignol the puppet and Santa gets a lookin outside the cathderal

There is even a website for online purchases

Souvenirs de Saint Jean is another good option, smaller and neater with a range of key globes nearby at 8 St Jeans

Subject to our rules stated on the home page, we don't go mad and buy up all the globes available. We selected the following 2 as representing our holiday most of all.

The globe contains a range of the main attractions in Lyon:

These include the Statue Equestre de Louis XIV (Sun King) from 1825.

Old town buildings along the River Rhone some of which have life like murals painted on.

Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste cathedral, Begun in 1180.

Guignol" the Lyon puppet.

The Eifel Tower resembling "Metallic tower of Fourvière".

We also obtained a specific style of snow globe found in France with the focus picture painted on a white background

Weather was reasonable for spring and plenty to do and see for a long weekend there.
