Picked up these globes during a weekend in Prague (Praha) recently. Many to choose from with richly decorated bases.

This one shows The Church of St. Mary of Týn a Gothic icon of Prague, it is located in the Old Town Square. It was built between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries, The twin towers are 80 meters high, and adorned with elaborate spires visible all around Prague. The tomb of astronomer Tycho Brahe is inside

The ornate base shows the famous medieval clock, and the coat of arms introduced in the 15th century, consisting of three silver towers on a red shield.

This globe shows the The Old Town Hall built in 1338 as the administrative seat for Prague's Old Town. There are five medieval houses, one with the historical astronomical clock. The base shows the Charles Bridge the medieval stone arch bridge that crosses the Vltava river which was begun in 1357 by King Charles IV, and finished in the early 15th century.

The base hints at the cobblestone streets: towers, bridges, churches and palaces

dating back to the 12th century, Old Town Square which is encased by splendid historical buildings and towering gothic monuments

The Gothic, Metropolitan Cathedral of Saints Vitus, Wenceslaus and Adalbert is located within Prague Castle and containing the tombs of many Bohemian kings and Holy Roman Emperors. The first church on the site was started in 930 but Construction of the present-day Gothic cathedral began in November 1344.

Bohemia is the westernmost and largest historical region of the Czech Republic. Again the base is richly ornated with buildings from around the city including the medieval astronomical clock.

Prague central is a real tourist area with many tourist shops selling all sorts. This photo from within a shop shows a river of globes flowing around the corner

Shops all over Europe seem to include the From ------- With Love title and accompanying heart image. Some places are good at enticing the customer with lights and a great layout, important in a city which has so many tourist shops competing.

Our 3 favourite sites in Prague amongst so many: this grafitti covered van.

The Dancing House is the nickname given to the Nationale-Nederlanden building on the river Embankment. It was designed by Vlado Milunić and Frank Gehry on a vacant riverfront plot. The building was designed and completed from 1992 - 1996.

The house was originally nicknamed Ginger and Fred (after the dancers Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire), supposedly because the house resembles a pair of dancers.

We visited a nice ground floor cafe there to rest up.

And of course the The medieval Prague astronomical clock, attached to the Old Town Hall. One of the oldest in the world (built in 1410), at every hour a procession of the 12 apostles takes place.
